As Larkin introduced himself to the newcomer, Jane raised a hand to point out the veil of mist that could now be seen in the south of the area.
"Looks like we're nearly there," she called.

'Yes,' Karl replied. 'How far from our destination would you estimate we are now, Larkin?'

Peri stuck out her hand. "I'm Peregrin Walker. Peri for short. And as for tokens of goodwill..." She thought for a moment, then said quietly, "I know a bit about how this place works. You never know, I might be useful where we're going."

She raised her voice slightly, glancing around at the others: "And I can make really good coffee."

OOC: Sorry for the delay on this!

Larkin grabbed the out-stretched hand and gave it a brief shake, before giving her a quick grin and saying "You know a bit about the place? Bin around have yer?" he seemed to be brightening up a little now.

Turning to the other two and pointing south he said "Its just on the other side of that patch of mist. Then we're lookin fer a room with the number 8 on it alright?"

A small wrinkle then passed across his forehead and turning back to Peri he said "Whats coffee?"

Peri looked shocked, then laughed. "Wait and see," she said. She glanced at the mists. "Well, I'm ready when you are..."

Larkin turned and glared at the other two as if realising he was losing his role as leader a little and yelled "Oye you two love-birds. You ready ter cross over ter the map room or what?"

Karl was taken a little aback by Larkin's shouted words. 'Love birds?' he looked daggers at the sneak - thief for a moment, then turned to Jane with what he hoped was an apologetic smile, but he could feel the blood rising to his cheeks with momentary embarassment. He was surprised at himself, even a little angered. That this could unsettle him !; a young man well known back in the City for his insouciance and elegant way with the girls of Madame Sophia's harem.
He felt it prudent to change the subject hurriedly. 'Well,' he said to Larkin, as he caught up with him and the new girl 'If we're only a boundary away from fulfilling what we set out to do, then I should say we get on with things. I assume that the place we are now going to is safe enough for us not to need precautions as we cross over?'

Larkin had grinned very slowly and knowingly at Karls response, which was very alarming for Karl given that Larkin was still barely out of his teens, although it had to be said that in general experience and world-weariness he was probably somewhere in his fifties.

However now he was nodding and he said "Alright then lets go, if the stud here can keep his tongue in fer a few seconds." From there the cutpurse gave the man a very mischievous grin before turning smartly around and practically marching through the mist ahead of the others.

Karl gave a slight sigh, and looked slightly sheepishly in Jane's direction for a moment. Then, he strode purposefully after Larkin.

[OOC: Karl is now decamping across to the Map Room]

Jane glanced at Peri and said defiantly.
"I don't know what that was about... I'm not interested in either of them."

Stroking Buccaneer's glossy coat she urged the horse forward and diappeared into the mist.

ooc: Jane moves to the Map Room. 'The End of a Quest'

With growing excitement, Peri followed Jane and her horse.

(ooc: Peri goes to the Map Room, End of a Quest, to join the others)
