[OOC: From Aldersley Manor, "Is It A Bird? Is It A Plane?"]
Kirby stepped through the mists to the north. He took in the scene. He blinked a few times. He then stepped back through...
...and returned.
Clearly, these were two different places. Different terrain. Different flora. Even the air smelled different And the place he'd come from definitely didn't have a big rock hanging in space, without any sort of support...
Perhaps it was the intermeshing of two realities that was causing the light scattering effect, he thought. He picked up a stick, and began drawing in the dirt.
He drew two squares, connected along one side. The more open plan nature of this domain clearly showed it to be circumscribed by mists on all four sides. So. Two domains, linked by a discontinuity that appeared mistlike.
Kirby idly drew question marks next to the other six boundaries on his diagram.
Now... in all the action, he vaguely recalled seeing clouds or mist before being blinded by the sun. Perhaps Empire City had been forced into this domain structure, perhaps by a malfunction of the Quiet Zone Projector? It seemed fanciful. That wouldn't explain the rectilinear arrangements of domains. Still, that was a problem for another day. Empire City may have been forced into this structure, by whatever means. And it seemed likely, or at least possible, that it lay beyond one of the boundaries of the first domain. It was a shaky hypothesis, true. But it was one which was immediately testable, and the results of the test, even if he didn't get back to Empire, would give him more information.
He turned, and returned to the first domain.
