[ooc: From 'At the Top of the World' also in Academy]

The old lady with the wireframe shopping trolly trundled up and down the streets of the floating island until she came out in a small park like space that overlooked the dizzying edge.

Then she began to rummage among the black plastic sacks inside in the trolly, foinally producing with triumph a small object. It was a wooden model, a canoe-shaped item with wide flat wings protruding from either side. Slim poles stood at the end of the wings and on the covered back of the canoe, with fans mounted at the top.

"I thought I had another one," she declared to herself. An expression of doubt came over hers face as she looked at the thing.
"The last one probably only crashed because that big building startled me," she said. "All the bits didn't fall off until then, anyway."

She hesitated another moment and then came to a decision. "No knowing when they'll get that tower fixed. I've never been one to wait for a lemon soaked napkin when I've got me own hanky."

Seizing hold of the model in one hand and her trolly with the other, she brought her hands together. There was an eye-aching twist and she stood back again, having crammed the trolly into the back of the now person-sized Skayak.

Using a bent piece of metal to wind up some sort of spring on the back she ran around to seat herself in the driver's seat just as the vehicle began to roll forwards.
"Can't help but think I'm forgetting something," she muttered as the edge of the island approached at increasing speed. "Well, too late now..."

The wind caught the propellers and sit them spinning as the Skayak sprang forward like a lemming and sailed out and over the edge.

Dropping and wheeling like a seagull, the Skayak spiraled down from the height of the floating island and towards the ground. Yarrow's hands clutched at the currently useless steering wheel and her lips moved frantically, mumbling wrds that from anyone else would have been a prayer.

The ground seemed to be approaching awfully quickly.

She'd always had good eyesight and as she peered down at the earth below, thinking it looked much harder and bumpier from close to than it had from way up in the sky, Yarrow spotted the little group of figures.
"Pietro!" she said, with pleased surprise, abandoning her attempts to control the craft as she waved wildly at her erstwhile travelling companion.

Meanwhile the Skayak lurched alarmingly and by the time she'd grabbed once more for the wheel it was only a few metres above the ground.
