Hum drum, hum drum. Harlequin's thoughts echoed the ticking of the clock on the mantelpiece. It was *ages* since anyone had invited him to any parties. Not that he was desparate to go or anything. No, he had decided to live outside the frivolities of the Charismocracy for a while and live with the Greys, who were *bound* to be more interesting. But they weren't interesting, and Harlequin missed the parties. He let out a sigh.
The chiming of the mantelpiece clock broke his reverie. He stood up with a laugh. "I will go and invite myself!"

Harlequin climbed out of the window of his home in the clock tower, and stood on an adjoining roof.
"Which way to go?" he pondered. He thought about going through the sewers, as he hadn't been that way for a while, but then remembered why - in summer it stank. The rooftops were always an option, but too dull for his current mood. "I know! I'll take the kite!"

He climbed up the ladder to the very top of the clock tower, and straddled the apex. A piece of string tied to the weather vane was pulled taut by the kite floating above. The kite mirrored the red and yellow diamonds of Harlequin's clothes. He reeled in the kite and put his arm through a stirrup, obviously fashioned for the purpose, before untying it from the weather vane. He was about to leap off the roof when he looked down to see one of the Greys. No - not a Grey - he was looking up...
With a final check of the wind, Harlequin decided to float down to alleviate his curiosity.
