[OOC: Continued from Heaven]

From the mist to the West, a white van appeared. It stirred up a huge cloud of dust as it proceeded towards the North.

At irregular intervals as the van drove onward through the sands, wild shouts and dull thunks rent the air; several arrows glanced off the bodywork, although a large spear was left, quivering, like some palsied limb, just above the back wheel's mud - guard. There was nothing to be seen of the folk who must have generated this barrage.

Although Michael reasoned that they were probably safe in the van, the periodic attacke were more than a little disconcerting. The Janitor did not seem to be taking much notice of them, but Michael was more curious - especially since he could see very little of the surrounding country.

"Where are we, by the way?" he asked, "and do you know why we are being attacked, or by whom?"

"Oh, it's probably just the desert nomads. I suspect they think we are from the city. They generally try to take a few pot-shots at travellers. We should be safe in the van, though I'm going to have to do something about the paintwork."

"Fortunately, we shouldn't have much further to travel."

The van continued in its journey, and finally made it to the northern mists. The van disappeared into the mists, leaving nothing but a cloud of dust and fading tracks.
