(From "Up, up and away" in Terminus)

Something large and hazy was coming through the mist at the eastern edge of the Blue, with a "put-put-put" sort of sound. At first the only clearly visible portion was a small blue-and-white circle. The circle grew and grew until it was revealed as the front end of an elliptical airship, with a dangling cabin beneath. The cabin contained its driver and a small cartoon girl.

The driver cut the engines slightly, so that they sounded almost apologetic in this great silence, and set the airship to hover in place. "Well, here we are," he told Abigail.

Abigail looked out of the window, at first with wonder, and then with confusion.

"But there's nothing here! What should I do now?"

Although streaks of cloud could be seen in the distance the overwhelming impression was of blue: a blue without proper substance. For, while they seemed to fly through it like air, the blueness lapped over the airship like water. Words were strangely muted in that emptiness and even the thoughts in Abigail's head seemed unnaturally loud.

As they sailed onwards a chain of words seemed to ripple through the blue and through the small girl's thoughts alike.

Azure dreams in the endless blue
Where thought floats wide and free,
Washing with waves of the ocean
Flotsam over the sea.

Leap from the topless tower,
Crawl deep underneath the ground,
Fall and keep falling forever
Enveloped all around.
The blue cradles the dreamer,
The dreamer in blue is drowned.

Azure dreams beyond memory
Leaving questions and answers behind.
The scales of judgement are balanced.
The eyes of the blue are blind.

Maybe I should just jump out and see what happens Abigail thought to herself, and leant closer to the window, craning to see through the blue.

She shook her head to dislodge the words from the blue, and, her practical nature reasserting itself, she looked to the airship's pilot for an answer to her question.

Abigail thought about this for a moment, then walked over to the door. "Wish me luck!" she cried, before stepping out.

She pulled a rainbow-coloured golf umbrella from a pocket, and, hanging from its large curved handle, she floated through the blue.

"Do?" said the driver. "Hum. I've not been around here much. But from what I've heard, you can fly. Or else you can float. Or you can fall, but I wouldn't recommend it."

The airship slowed to a stop and hovered in place, bobbing gently. The driver put his feet up again and reached for his newspaper. "As for me, love, I'm going to take my break."

In the blue daydreaming weather
We make up names and shapes for clouds.
Floating free we're joined together
Far from the maddening crowds.

Our colours merge in swirling inks,
An oil-slick's rainbow on the sea.
We share each thought the other thinks
Adrift in perfect empathy.

The current pulls, the tides run deep,
Through the blue serene,
And while the wondering senses sleep
We dream again in dream.

The cartoon girl sailed though the blue, the shape of the airship disappearing above her as she drifted downwards. The white streaks and swirls of cloud intensified around her for a while, and she seemed to see shapes in them: a snowflake, a dragon, a question mark.

After a while she even began to see different shades of blue, or to think that she could. She had no immediate way to estimate how long she'd been flying like this or how far she'd come. But at some point in her travels she became aware of an occlusion that was larger than the others: a shimmering sea of mist ahead.

As she neared it she had time to see a green tinge to the misty veil.

Another wall of mist! Abigail thought to herself. I wonder if this one leads to a new world as well? And it seems to be green! Maybe there's a world for each colour!

She furled her umbrella, returned it to a pocket, and aimed for the green.

(OOC: Abigail now moves to Periphery: Green Globes 'The joy of bouncing')
