At least there had been no thump this time -- the mist parted and Kalyndis found himself high above the sea. There was an island not too far away, and a curious collection of wood and fabric beside it. He could make out movement on the wooden pile.

Humans?

Any sailors looking into the western sky might have briefly seen a winged shape gleaming golden in the sunlight. It floated there for only a few moments before retreating into the clouds.
