A figure steps confidentallyout of the mists, somewhere to the current east of the patch [OOC: Has direction on the Quilt map been established yet? I'll assume it's North pointing upwards until someone contradicts me].

"Um.. hello?" yells the figure, turning to examine the landcape and squint at the stone building in the distance, her abnormally large eyes briefly becoming slits. Deciding it to be the only thing of note, she begins to stride toward it, muttering constantly to herself as she does so.

As the new visitor approached, she was spotted by the servants at the main entrance. Pleasantly surprised to see yet another customer, one of them reached for the horn and blew a short call to announce the new arrival to the rest of the Foundry.

The servant waited until the unusual-looking visitor had reached the bottom of the stairs, then announced, "Welcome to the Imperial Foundry". Both servants bowed, then waited expectantly for the visitor to ascend the steps.

The newcomer's puzzled face breaks into a huge grin, and she bounces up the steps, taking thm two at a time, before grabbing the hand of the first servant enthusiastically, her spiky blue hair bobbing in time to her vigorous shakes.
"Hi! Who are you? Where am I, exactly? What's this Imperial Foundry place? I'm asuming this isn't the world I know, but where is it, why is it here, and what's happened to everything else? Does this place surround all of the Academy, or are there other places, too? In short; what, precisely, is going on?"
She pauses for a breath; then, noticing that she's still shaking the first servant's hand, she lets go sheepishly.
"I'm Meirian, by the way" she adds.

"It is an honour to meet you, Meirian," Attendant smiled back. Meirian couldn't help noticing he seemed very pale and - apart from his round face - very thin.

"You have come to the Imperial Foundry of the Illuminated Empire. Here we manufacture everything and anything to which our artifice is equal. As for what may have transpired, I regret that little news reaches us here. However, I recommend that you consult with Liason - our ambassador - who travels far and wide in the world."

Attendant led Meirian inside to the cloakroom and from there to the entrance hall. Everything here was gilt and opulence. The recent arrival of customers meant all the lanterns were lit and a hint of sandalwood polish could me smelled on the air.

"As to the Academy, please forgive my ignorance, I do not know of it. You see, I am not an educated man."

The face of th attendant puzzled Meirian. He was thin and pale, which usually implied angular faces and angst; however, this did not seem to be the case. She wondered why his face was so round, a state normally reserved for small children.
A thought occured to her.
"You don't build universes, do you? Or doorways to other worlds, or anything of the like? Yes, talking to your liason might be helpful, I think. Incidentally, why is your face so round? And what's this?" She began to fiddle with the most interesting object she could see.

"That, Madam, is the trolley bell. Should any customer have heavy items to transport, a trolley can be brought here from the workshops to facilitate."

He led Meirian through the halls and corridors until they came to the central customer lounge.

[OOC: Continued in the 'Two Visitors Arrive' thread.]
