The Doctor continued to take notes throughout the story, making the occasional "Hmm" and "Aha!" as she did so. At the end, she drained the last of the tonic in her tankard, and set it down again. "Well, it does seem a rather interesting turn of events. From the sounds if it, I would guess that the Justice and the crew have been taken by these strange Gods, to who knows where. You realize, of course that Peerblind and the Slums may be set further adrift as well?"
Leaving that thought to sink in, she waved at a servant. "Excuse me, but do you think I could have a little more of this lovely tonic?" It is most refreshing. |

Servants bustled in and out, seeing to the various requests.
Time passed slowly, but at length it became apparent that Liason had been gone for some time and the Lieutenant even longer. |

| Having recevied a second tankard of tonic, the Doctor had continuted to sip it contentedly while taking her notes, adding detail to her statements concerning the decoration and architechture of the Foundry. After some time, however, she tucked away the notebook and pencil, as she began to feel a bit lightheaded and drowsy. She had just enough time to consider that she might have indulged just a bit too heavily in the local beverage before she drifted into a light doze. Her head fell forward, glasses slipping down her nose, and a soft wheezing snore could be heard from the direction of the chaise where she was seated. |

It was several seconds before Larkin noticed the doctor fall forward. He had still been thinking over where his city could be and what this could mean. What if it had dissapeared altogether, he might never be able to find it again!
The very thought of being stuck in this stupid place until he died was enough to bring Larkin back to the real world, and in the same second he noticed the rather interesting way the doctor had slumped forward. Grinning he started to lean over to tap the sleeping woman on the top of her head. Under differant circumstances he probably would have robbed the poor woman blind. |

Naturally, Larkin's thoughts turned to Meirian, the other occupant of the room. But, when he looked for her, it appeared that the blue-haired girl had vanished.
In fact, bored by the discussion of people and places she knew nothing of, meirian had wandered around the room, observing the artifacts and paintings, then wandered further still into the corridor, embarking on her own unguided and unintentional tour of the Foundry.
Where she was now, was anyone's guess. |

| At the tap on her head, Doctor Domenova started, and her eyes snapped open. Seeing that Quickgrip was standing in front of her, one hand went subtly but instinctively towards her jacket pockets, as if to assure that her notebook and coinage were still there, while the Doctor used the other to push her glasses back up her nose. Straightening in her chair, she said "I do apologize, Quickgrip, I seem to have drifted off - perhaps a bit too much of the tonic. What was it you were saying? And -" Looking around, she noted that Meirian had disappeared, and most of the servants had gone as well "how long have I been asleep?" |

Larkin had sat back in his chair when the doctor had started, but leaned forward when she started talking. "Hey yer drinkin problems is yer own problems, don't worry bout it." he said understandingly. "Don't worry bout me either, I'd well finished talkin, an yer've only bin asleep a couple of minutes."
A slight crease flowed across Larkins rather hardened features and he said "But I am startin ter worry bout yer mate. Yer know the stiff, serious one. He's bin gone for quite a bit now." |

Larkin's words were barely out of his mouth when the door was pushed open and Liason returned, Lieutenant Stafford a short way behind him.
"I must apologise to you all," Liason bowed, "but certain difficulties have arisen. I believe it might be safest for all concerned if visitors were to depart the Foundry." |

Liason confers briefly with two of the servants, who head off to find Meirian.
I can trust them with her, and Larkin too, Liason thought, it's Stafford I'll have to watch.
Sure enough, two more servants turned up for the Doctor and the Lieutenant.
"I think I would prefer to escort these two myself," Liason smiled, his hand moving swiftly to the hilt of his sword, "perhaps you could assist Master Quickgrip ?" |

| Sensing the Liasons uneasy feeling Larkin quickly drew his favorite (and only) dagger with a mild flourish. Looking to the Lieutenant then back to Liason he asked 'Whats goin on? What dyu want me ter do?' before turning to look at the quickly rising Doctor. |

| Liason glanced briefly at the dagger, but decided the boy probably had the right idea. "I would suggest you leave the Foundry... Either with these two servants or by your own means." |

Liason, the Doctor and Lieutenant Stafford then left the room.

The servants had respectfully left soon after Liason had, leaving Larkin on his own once again. Not wanting to stay too long in the foundry on his own the lad quickly made for the door before a thought occured to him.
Scouring the room quickly the lad realised their was very little of real value which he could make off with. Grabbing the doctors bottle of tonic he stuffed it up with a piece of material from his coat and pocketed a little of the foundries cutlery before making his way to the exit.
