A key turned in a wide, heavy lock and a seldom-used door in the East wall of the Foundry swung open. From a distance, a casual observer would have seen little more than three small figures and the bright blue of Meirian's hair.

Slowly, the three made their way from the Foundry. Not far from the walls, the two servants turned back and disappeared through the door, leaving Meirian on her own.

Meirian stared up at the bulk of the Foundry from which she had been unceremoniously ejected, wondering to herself what had happened to those other people she'd met. She hadn't exacyly hit it off with any of them and they had been singularly unhelpful but nonetheless she thought they might have provided some insight into her strange siuation.

Shrugging her shoulders, she set off in the direction in which she had come. Maybe she'd be able to make more sense of this in her own rooms back in the Academy.

Liason led Doctor Domenova and Lieutenant Stafford down the steps and swiftly across the wilderness to the West.

He had been expecting pursuit, but was pleasantly surprised.

Halfway there, he turned and bowed to his two companions.

"I apologise for the difficulties here today. At present, I think it best that I return as swiftly as possible to see to matters arising. Please pass on my best wishes to your captain."

[OOC GM NOTE: Liason has now left this thread. His subsequent post takes place some hours later when he departs this patch. I've split it off from this to give other players in this patch a chance to continue this thread point without him. - Rhiannon]

Larkin strolled out of the front of the foundry a little while after, having been unable to remember the way out, he had ended up exploring much of the foundry. However once he had put his knife away the thief had been pretty much left alone, no-one tended to bother Larkin when he didn't want them to.

After skulking his way through the foundry, not taking much interest beyond any exit signs he had eventually found the main doors again. Breathing a sigh of relief he had stumbled out onto the ground in front of the building and sat down.

This was when Larkin thought to the future. He had really done this back in the Slums. It had always been the who the next target he and Davvo were going to hit and no further. Now with the Slums probably gone he was going to have to start making serious decisions all of the time.

Picking his teeth with the tip of his tongue Larkin started to think about what to do now.

A piece of paper that had been blowing hither and thither about the scrubland, chose this moment to come scampering around the thief's feet.

It had been crumpled into a ball but now its action in rolling around Larkin's feet caused it to uncrumple so that he could read the words written on it.

Snatching up the paper Larkin glanced over it with his good eye before quickly making up his mind. He would follow the arrows until he found this paper trail, whatever it was. Almost laughing with glee, now that he had something to do, Larkin gazed around for an arrow.

It was barely two minutes before Larkin made out an arrow to the North and less still for him to make his way up there. Pocketing the paper he aimed himself in the direction it pointed and strode off.

Departure from the Imperial Foundry had been accomplished quickly and quietly. Upon arrival in the customer lounge, no more than a few words had been exchanged between the two members of the Justice's crew. Both Lieutenant and Doctor had assumed a grim and determined demeanor, and a moment after that weapons were readied by both (Doctor Domenova being not unused to battle conditions). Few words were exchanged as they followed Liason out through the secret exit in a westward direction. Domenova had nodded a rather rushed farewell to Quickgrip, and later to Liason, but before the Ambassador left, Lieutenant Stafford had clasped his arm and murmured a farewell which the Doctor could not quite hear.

Now, as they approached the western shore in silence, they easily sighted the carmine coats of the marines who had been waiting for their return. Salutes from the two indicated that they too had been spotted. "At ease. It seems an internal matter has arisen here with the Ambassador, and we should therefore return to the ship at once." Stafford looked stern, and seemed uncommonly distressed. The men rushed to obey - but the mist proved unyielding. Mutiple attempts failed to locate the boat, although it should have been anchored just offshore. Moreover, the sailors who had been manning it had disappeared as well. "This is much as I had feared..." Doctor Domenova took a few minutes to convey the information that Quickgrip had provided regarding the "empty" sea that he had traversed to reach the Foundry, as well as the apparent time slip that she had noted, based on the thief's description of events. After a few tense minutes of further discussion, it was decided to head North, as this was the direction in which the Captain was to have progressed the next day. Fully armed and on the alert, the party of four headed for the northern border of the Imperial Foundry.

Reaching the northern border of the Foundry, the party encountered two items of note - another wall of mist, and a golden arrow, pointing north. Taking this as a positive sign, Doctor Domenova led the way through the fog, and was gratified to find it permeable. "Clearly, this is the proper course of action, as we are able to pass here, but were unable to do so in the West. Perhaps this course was ordained by these deities that we have had word of? I wonder if the sign has anything to do with it?" She made a mental note to follow up this train of thought later. Followed by the Lieutenant, with the marines in the rear, the members of the Justice's crew continued on into new territory.

OOC note: Ack! I do apologise for the lack of postage, sort of forgot. I really do seem to be quite bad at this. Terribly sorry, I am an absent-minded Rei, will try to get on with it now. Oops. *looks sheepish*.
