Dr. Odom studied the vial. "Well, it's worth a try, I suppose. And even if it doesn't work, your efforts are admirable." He pushed four coins across the bar.

[OOC : Back from the Window Seat conversation]

Dr Jewel returned to the bar looking slightly puzzled.

"I think I must have misunderstood something." She remarked to Dr Odom and Father Michael. "You know how you think you've heard a particular question and then it's clear that it was directed at someone else? Anyway, Larkin seems fine and that's the main thing."

She looked at a bar stool thoughtfully but decided that standing would be the safer option.

"Ah! Welcome back Doctor! I have been talking with Miss Jones here, and if you're feeling adventurous you might try this drink she has unearthed while we sort things out."

Dr Jewel gazed at the drink with surprise, then with gratitude.

"Thank you very much." She said. "That's very kind of you. Both of you." She glanced at Dr Odom, then at Jessica Jones.

She reached out carefully to see if she could pick it up.

Jessica Jones looked with surprise as Dr Jewel reached out. Those present at the bar all saw her hand reach through the container Jesscia had described as an Ogre Glass and grasp the vial of Phantasm within it.

Bringing it towards her, Dr Jewel studied the white opalescent fluid with mild apprehension. Jessica's eyes were round and amazed as she watched. At her side Juniper came closer and said softly:
"We can't vough for the quality, my lady. But I believe it is a potion of health."

Dr Jewel put any apprehensions aside and drank a mouthful. It was strange to actually taste something again. It had not been many days since her... physical state had changed, but it felt far longer.

"It tastes wonderful, thank you." She said.

She wondered what a potion of health would do for a ghost.

"Well! So far, so good!" Dr. Odom raised his own glass in salute. His mind wandered a bit on topics having to do with drinking to someone's health and the proliferation of beverages with names derived from "water of life."

"I suppose we should eventually return to business." He placed his notebook on the bar, open to his map.

Dr Jewel nodded, still sipping her drink.

She turned to the bar staff.

"Excuse me." She said. "We're fairly new to this... patchwork of lands here. We wanted to ask someone about it. Who might be a good person to approach?"

She paused.

"I mean, well, does my question make sense to you?"

Jessica and Juniper looked at each other and then Jessica spoke slowly:
"I suppose you might want to speak to my father. But he seems to be occupied right now."
Juniper's dark eyes seemed focused on the bar top but she also replied:
"The lady who brought me with her to the quilt was of the opinion that the Powers could not be understood by mortals but others I have encountered have worked to comprehend their mysteries... the Cardinal, Alice Wong, Dr Brainstorm... they each have brought their own understanding to the world." She paused. "But it has been some time since any of those worthys visited my father-in-law's house."

There had been a brief moment, as he was walking with the pirates towards Jones', when Michael had felt almost normal. It hadn't lasted long. Although he knew that he was not hallucinating, he also knew that he could not have just seen someone's hand pass through a metal container. This conundrum was too difficult to deal with at present.

However, at the mention of a cardinal he began to feel a little more hopeful.

"A cardinal, Miss? Do you happen to remember his name, or where he came from?"

"We only knew him as the Cardinal," Juniper explained. "But he came from a place called the Chantry."

Dr Jewel listened to the names with a frown on her face.

"I'm afraid that none of the people you mention mean anything to me." She said. "Perhaps if there is a quiet moment later on," she glanced out of the doorway, "this morning, then your father might have time to speak with us."

Larkin came out of the saloon bar and whistled under his breath. Mumbling to himself "Gettin, serious in there." he wandered over to the main bar and sat himself on stool. From here he looked around the room and took in all the visitors.

He then placed his arms on the bar and watched the door with interest, wondering when Jane would get back.

Almost immediately Jane edged round the main door and spotted Larkin.
"Pssst," she hissed, waving at him while trying not to attract the attention of any of her family members. "Larkin, over here..."

It was at this moment that Trubshawe, on the other side of the bar, first noticed that Dr Jewel had arrived in Jones'.

"Dr Jewel!" came a gruff cry, over the general hubbub. "Are you alright?"

Startled, the archaeologist looked up, to see the Head Zookeeper bearing swiftly down upon her in a collision course...
