Dr Jewel quickly took a few steps back.
She had a sneaking suspicion that Trubshawe was not likely to be terribly accepting of her ghost status. He had totally missed the implications of the incident (or lack of) with the cup of brandy back at the Museum, but walking straight through her was probably going to count as conclusive. Besides, she had no idea how the rest of the bar were likely to react either.
She hoped he would come to a halt before that happened. |

Trubshawe came to a halt centimetres from the tip of Dr Jewel's nose.
"Thank Dawks you're alright," he boomed, looking on the verge of throwing his arms around her, but mercifully refraining. "At least - you are alright, aren't you? Now I come to look at you, you do seem a little pale..." |

Thinking Dr. Jewel did look rather uncomfortable and speculating that it could have something to do with just how close Trubshawe was standing, Dr. Odom attempted to distract Trubshawe.
"Ah! Mr. Trubshawe! I didn't want to interrupt your meal or I would have said hello sooner. Michael, this is Mr. Trubshawe of the Zoo, here." He showed Michael the location on the scribbled map. "And I see Mr. Quickgrip over there. Have we mentioned him before? Mr. Quickgrip, Mr. Trubshawe, this is Michael -- ah, sorry, Michael, I didn't catch your last name -- of San Pietro, a region with some connection to Dr. Jewel's." |

Dr Odom's interuption gave her a moment to think; this was harder than she would have believed with a Zookeeper standing practically nose to nose with her.
"I'm fine, thank you." Dr Jewel managed another half-step back. "It took a while for us to finally find this place. I see you were more successful at locating it quickly."
She glanced around for another distraction.
"Perhaps you could introduce the three of us," she glanced apologetically at Dr Odom and Father Michael, "to your companions?" |

Trubshawe fixed Dr Odom with a cold glance that was just an ace from solidifying into a stream of mid-air daggers, and felt his gloved hands clenching into fists. He would dearly have loved to teach the cad a lesson there and then... but this was no time to make a scene.
"Of course," he replied through gritted teeth. "If you'd like to follow me?"

Dr. Odom struck a match and lit his cigarette. Failing to locate an ashtray he drained his glass of akvavit and dropped the match into the empty glass. Leaving his notebook open beside the glass and placing his glasses carefully atop it he rose with his beer and crossed to Trubshawe's table.

Dr Jewel picked up her glass. Unwilling to carry the strange contraption anywhere else or leave it behind, she finished it carefully, then placed it back on the bar.
Finally she followed the other two.

ooc note: In the interests of archiving and posting clarity the 'New Day' Public Bar thread will now be wound up, as will the 'Trubshawe's Table' subthread. Since almost everyone present in the bar is now roughly clustered together a new Public Bar thread now begins called 'Introductions'.
Anyone wishing to move away from the main thread to another table or area of the pub should signal so appropriately. |
