Larkin stumbled out of the otherside of the mist. It hadn't taken him long to get to the edge and he had started to get to the odd sensation, as the landscape changed around him. He wouldn't have minded knowing where he was now though, was he already at the map room that the note mentioned. If so then the paper trail had to start somewhere in this area of the land.
Shrugging he selected a room at random and entered, looking for any answers. |

The bouncing ball of paper had been skittering about the various buildings of the patch for some time. It had been ignored by the pirates, who never noticed litter unless it was valuable; ignored more studiously still by the Janitor and never noticed at all by Liason, concentrating as he was on his own stealthy progress.
But it met Larkin like an old friend, coiled around his feet like a kitten and then finally politely unfolded to reveal its message.

Larkin snatched up the paper and read it through, smiling to himself a little in the shadow of one of the buildings dotted around the patch where he now sat. Larkin had never really thought much about destiny before, but now the feeling he has being led was so overwhelming he couldn't really ignore it. He wondered briefly as to exactly who Yarrow was. He pictured a giant of a man with fiery red hair, leading all of the lands inhabitants on a merry dance through the universe around them.
Of course it could all be just a feeling.
Scratching the back of his neck (which had somehow managed to become grimy since his trip in the ocean) he considered his options. It didn't take him long to realise that there was only one *real* choice, which was to go West. He didn't want to be left behind and he *certainly* didn't want to stumble blind from rut to ditch.
So it was that Larkins decision was practically decided for him. He would head West to where they drank beer and in due time would head on to the rose maiden.
As Larkin stood up and walked on to the next patch, the note safely pocketed with the other, the thought occured to him that he would probably want to meet the daughter who was so keen on blood. |
