[OOC: Continued from "The Museum: Aspects of Normality"]
The stick was shoved into the ground and the inevitable cigarette was lit.
If nothing else, the scrap of faded pink towel and the smoldering shag tobacco cheered the place up a little. |

Dr Jewel looked around with a sinking-despite-already-being-depressed feeling.
"Oh." She finally said.
She took in the ruins and the darkness.
"Oh." She said again. "Oh dear. I think perhaps we shouldn't wait around too long."
She glanced back into the mist towards the Museum, trying to think of an alternative plan.
"Perhaps we should go back to the Museum entrance." She suggested. "See which way the arrow points and follow it. After all, we'd be able to test my theory about the arrows all pointing to the pub." |

"Oh, I don't know," Dr. Odom countered cheerily. Laughter bubbled from him and his eyes were moist with tears of desperate hilarity. "Isn't it kind of difficult to be sad when the landscape is less cheerful than you could possibly be? Maybe we should stick around. Maybe you'll --"
He bit off the sentence and, very nearly, the tip of his tongue.
"Back!" he snapped, instantly sober and using the tone of voice he plied against slack Runners. He spread his arms and tried to crowd the incorporeal woman toward the Museum. |

Jewel was only too happy to go. The landscape was giving her some nasty notions about how it might reform her to be be in tune with the scenery.

Dr. Odom took a last look around. This was yet another very different landscape. It could bear exploring, but perhaps not with Dr. Jewel.
Stopping to shove the flag more firmly into the ground, Dr. Odom followed Dr. Jewel.

An eerie ululation rang out across the landscape, calling the corpses home for the feeding hour. The voice of the dead was heard in the land.
"Ulla! Ulla! Ulla! Ulla! Ulla! Ulllaaaaa!"
After silence had returned, a small voice could be heard coming from the highest tower.
"Visitors never seem to stay long these days, do they, dear? Such a shame..."
