Once through the mists, Kirby stopped the Rover. He got out, climbed on top, and surveyed the area.
Initially, he thought he might be in a country garden or maze, attached to the house in the previous domain. Quickly, though, he came to realise that there was more afoot here.
Thickets of roses grew all around, wild, not cultivated, though healthier and more full of flower than any gardener could hope to achieve. The thickets seemed to be naturally occuring, and yet laid out in some sort of pattern. Between the thickets, the ground seemed to form passageways and paths, man of which were wide enough for the rover. This place had the air of the kind of dimension that his adventures alongside The Sorceror had taken him to, ones that were inhabited and guided by single-minded otherworldly entities. Whatever lived here, roses were important to them in a deep, psychological sense.
Kirby progressed through the garden, being careful to stay on the wider paths, and not damage the roses. |
