They'd established they couldn't pass through the walls.
They realised they weren't able to find the Captain. And quite possibly he couldn't get back to them.
They hadn't any idea if he was even still alive - he'd gone into a cave - muttering some drunken babble about 'it goes really dark' and that cave just led to a dead end.
It was a rum do, and as pirates do in a rum do, they did rum.
But always there was someone up in the crow's nest with the spyglass, and a shout came down.
"Action in the fenced place" - (as they called the Zoo) - "There's a right bust up. Must be the Captain this time."
The ship was moving in a moment and an order from Scarlet. They couldn't get out of their lake a nautical mile square, but they could get a good deal closer to the action than this.
"Definitely the Captain." came the shout. 'And definitely trouble"
"Prepare the cannons and a dinghy" came the order. and the ship was readied for action. |

The boat sailed closer and Scarlet saw Magpie and the others waiting. She allowed the boat to slide gently along the shore and they jumped in.
Scarlet gave way to Magpie and he gratefully took the wheel from her, savouring its familiarity.
"Well, that took a good long while, I must say. It's good to be home, isn't it"
A cheer went up, and somewhere within the long leather coat came a purr... |
