Von Damme cursed. The airship had entered this patch awfully low. He attempted to gain some altitude, but some force appeared to be stopping him. No matter, a mere hundred yards up was sufficient to see that this patch was utterly featureless but for a ship in the distance.

He took the airship closer - though not so close as to be within range of the puny guns of the seventeenth century. And with shipboard cannon incapable of much vertical traverse, Von Damme was pretty sure of being safe. The pirates on board fired muskets and flintlocks, and made plenty of ARRRs! of frustration, but were pretty much powerless to prevent Von Damme getting some nice snapshots. He considered the cannon, but thought perhaps it was a little early in the game to remove players. After all, these pirates might even have potential as henchmen.

His survey of this patch done with record speed, he continued west.
