Yaroslav opened his eyes. It was dawn.

He immediately jumped up and walked to the door. There was just no point lying around. Living without another human being in sight felt liberating and he wouldn’t change it for the world, but this meant that he could rely on no-one else. Therefore being lazy was definitely out of the question, he had countless things to do and make. After all, winter was only 6 months away.

He opened the door and stepped outside. The sky was just beginning to take colour. Yaroslav stretched, yawned and stretched again. “To the lake”, he thought. Nothing can cure sleepiness better than an early morning swim. Besides, the sky was promising another good day and hence he should make the most of it.

He started towards the lake.

Reaching the shore of the lake Yaroslav took off his clothes and launched himself into the water. The cold gave him a sudden burst of energy which cured any drowsiness he had left. He turned on his back and rested on the surface of the water, looking around him.

Thick fog prevented him from seeing the other shore of the lake. Slowly turning to the south, west and north he noticed some heavy clouds gathering on all sides. It is as if his hut was directly under an island of blue sky, elsewhere rain was threatening.

“Oh well it seems like it’ll rain after all” Yaroslav thought. “Better get back and get something done before the bad weather gets in the way”.

Wasting no more time he swam to the shore, got dressed and hurried back to the hut.

However as soon as he entered the forest he noticed something else. The forest felt strange, it had a definitely unsettling feeling to it. It is as if the entity was confused, alarmed even. Not since he discovered this place had Yaroslav got such a feeling from it. This had alarmed him too, but he could think of no reason why this should happen.
