OOC: Yaroslav arrives from Vselug Forest "Back to the forest"
Entering the new patch, Yaroslav found himself standing on a huge black mountain. He looked up to see the peak disappearing in the clouds and stared at it unable to avert his gaze. This was easily the biggest mountain he ever saw.
Focused on the sky he did not notice the appearance of the middle-aged woman and started when she spoke. He did not answer immediately, studying the dark archway and its guardian. The incongruity of the two confused him, the archway carved into solid rock suggested a presence of a powerful and advanced people, but why would they put a woman to guard the entrance and not half a dozen of well-armed guards?
Uncertainly he took two steps towards her. “What is this place? Who is its master?”, he finally said. |

As Yaroslav was speaking to the woman, an airship drifted silently overhead, and passed through the mists.

| [ooc: Players should ignore the previous post regarding the zeppelin's departure. While you may notice the zeppelin (it is pretty noticable) it has not yet departed. See ooc notes in the Ship of the Air thread] |

"Got yourself lost, have you?" said the woman. "Well, you can spend a safe night here, Church scare stories notwithstanding. Ah..." she paused, and looked at his clothes. "Well, I suppose we can put you in the Dead Zone, the weaving shouldn't do any harm there."
Seeing Yaroslav's expression of total confusion, she put an arm under his elbow and began to gently drag him towards the dark archway. "Welcome to the Citadel of Wizardry. I'm afraid the Archmage is... away... at present, but I'm sure the Council will see no need to refuse you hospitality." |

Never the most trusting of people, mention of a ‘Dead Zone’, the strange insistence of the woman and the descending airship made Yaroslav dig in his heels and refuse to be moved another step.
“Why do you want to put me in a ‘Dead Zone” he demanded. “What is it? Why would I be harmed by weaving? And what the hell is THAT?”. He pointed, accusingly, towards the airship. |

| "I was rather hoping you could tell me that." The woman stopped and regarded him. "So you've no connection with yon flying thing, then? As for the Dead Zone, well, where else could you sleep, wearing a lifetime's worth of spells on your body?" |

Even as they spoke, however, some kind of hole in reality opened in the sky ahead of the airship and rained water down on the lower slopes of the volcano. The air filled with droplets.
"Tell me..." the woman said slowly. "You wouldn't happen to know if any part of that machine of the air is... woven?" |

Yaroslav watched the airship with his mouth open. After the tranquillity of the patches he visited the previous day this place seemed exceptionally dangerous. Maybe this is where the rulers of this universe resided?
“Never seen such a thing before” he answered the woman, while keeping his eyes on the airship. “What is happening to it?” |

"It looks almost as if... but it can't be. Surely. Nobody could be that foolish, especially here..."
There was a thunderous noise from above, and fragments of rock began to fly. The woman's eyes widened.
"It's some kind of attack! Come with me, quickly." She gathered up her knitting and ran for the tunnel entrance. |

Yaroslav followed her until the tunnel entrance. Only then did he realise that the more logical course of action would have been to head back to the mists and the forest where he undoubtedly be safer. However the way back was now too dangerous to attempt.
Reluctant to go further into the darkness, he stopped just by the archway. Despite the danger his curiousity was urging him to go back and see how the flying object would fare against the magic of this mountain. |
