From the mists near the southeast corner of patch emerged a man in grey gardening overalls, pushing a cart covered with a tarpaulin.
He almost immediately stopped, and from the cart removed a silver coloured cylinder which was about a foot in diameter and three feet tall.
After considering the position carefully, he stood the pillar on the ground.
He then left the patch the way he had entered.
A few moments later, he again appeared; this time he entered near the northeast corner. Again he produced a cylinder from the cart, and set it on the ground. This time he spent some time adjusting something on the top while peering into the distance as if to judge the direction of the first pillar. |

The man repeated the act of setting a cylinder at the other two corners of the patch.
After checking the alignment once more he produced a handheld device from a pocket and began fiddling with it. |

The man stepped away from the cylinder and made a few more adjustments to the device he was holding.
A distortion like a heat haze gradually appeared over each cylinder. |

The haze from the cylinders spread out until it filled all the space along the edges of the patch.
Suddenly, the mist seemed to retreat, revealing more land. |

| If the Janitor could hear the faint cries for aid emerging from the high branches of the tree, he gave no sign for the moment. Perhaps he was concentrating on the important task at hand. |

Unfortunately for the trapped man, the man in grey seemed not to have heard his cries for help.
The man picked up the nearest cylinder, placed it on the cart and headed for the now somewhat distant mists. |
