Extract:

The field of elemental physics is an abstruse discipline still not widely understood since its mastery appears to depend on certain qualities of the individual. This runs counter to conventional science in which an experiment may be performed by any number of individuals and always yields the same result. While Bridges now possesses a number of elemental physicists their work is primarily theoretical. Of practical elemental physicists there remains only on: the founder of the science. While Magister Sulian developed the principles of the elemental ring in conjunction with a team of research students at the academy of science, it was he who developed the device that permitted the harnessing of forces to the engine now known as the elemental ring. Thus, while the field now includes a great many designers, engineers and theoreticians, he remains the only person capable of bringing their designs into reality.
