Drones are a form of machinery utilised by Doctor Brainstorm and controlled by his AI assistant Sakura. There are a number of varieties of drones which include:

The Explorer Drone

Sakura currently has this with the party of children led by Abigail.

A roughly cuboid box about four feet long. A rigid strut is attached to each bottom corner by a movable ball-and-socket style joint: Each strut is extensible like a solid shock absorber, and that is indeed one of their functions. At the end of each strut is another joint attached to a wheel with a solid off-road tyre.

Each wheel is powered independently and has quite a large freedom of movement. Thus, the Explorer Drone can drive at around 40mph on a flat road, turn 360 degrees inside its own length, adjust its ground clearance dynamically and navigate over almost any kind of natural terrain. The body itself bristles with a number of devices, including two folded mecha-arms and a movable sensor turret with obvious cameras on it.
