It's impossible to approach the interior of the patch by any route other than the four paths. Unless of course you brought a scythe that is. Dense undergrowth covers large areas of the patch, with a variety of Shrubs, heathers and brambles defending the patch against intruders. The only clear areas are the four grass and rock paths that allow access from the four edges of the square, and the small central home of the resident scientist, Dr Sallaya Abydos.

Not that she's the only occupant however. A myriad range of animals inhabits the area of Freedom Fields, showing a rather accurate cross-section of Scottish fauna. In the very interior of the patch, just slightly offset to what was east in the location the patch came from, is a large area of shorn grass, with a small stone cottage, painted white, sporting a roof of black slate. It is in this house that Dr Abydos resides, and in the cellar of which you will find her meagre home laboratory.

During a battle between von Damme and wizards from the Dark Towers, a deadly nerve toxin was unleashed in this patch and has contaminated a substantial portion of the western edge.
