From PatchworkWiki
This is the help page for the patchwork wiki, although it links to some media wiki help pages, it doesn't provide a comprehensive help for wiki novices itself. If you came here looking for specific help with playing the game the Players Guide is the place to go.

Overview
The patchwork wiki includes various types of pages. These are:
- Standard pages which are divided into two main categories: the in character pages linked from the Patchwork Encyclopedia (Category:Patchwork encyclopedia) and the out of character linked from the Players Guide (Category:Players guide).
- Category pages, these list all pages that belong in a specific category including subcategories.
- User pages which hold information about the users of the wiki
- Talk pages for discussing edits to the wiki, there is one of these for every wiki page.
- Help pages which provide information about using the wiki
- Special pages which list wiki statistical data
- Project pages for wiki users to make collaborative plans about their wiki use.
Principal categories
The principal categories are due to change, this is because the capitalisation of the two current categories Category:OoC information and Category:IC information is stylistically unattractive and potentially confusing. --Yarrow 22:22, 4 December 2006 (GMT)
The new categories that will replace them are Category:Patchwork encyclopedia and Category:Players guide to attach them to the two wiki page portals: Players Guide and Patchwork Encyclopedia.
It's important that you add the appropriate category tag when creating a page otherwise the page you make will end up orphaned from the hierarchy.
See the complete list of categories and sub categories.
Editing the wiki
Creating an account
For now, if you'd like to be involved in this project please sign up to the wiki by creating an account. In the interests of consistency (and to aid a future php integration of the patchwork servers) we advise that players use their character names (the ones used to sign into the forums) as their patchwork wiki account names, adding real names for reference purposes to their profiles.
Creating pages
Once you've registered an account please feel free to create pages for characters events and OOC information. Remember that as this wiki develops there may be renaming, reversions, splitting of content and wholesale moves of sections. This is the wiki way and no one should consider that they have ownership of a particular page.
If a page does not exist, it can be created by typing the name in the search box, clicking go, and then clicking on the 'this exact title' link to go to the edit page for that subject. The other way to create a page is to create a logical link on another page (for example, the list of patches for a new Patch), and then clicking the resulting link which will, as above, take you to the edit page for that subject. Note: When creating a new page, please ensure to add categories (see below).
If you'd like to play with the wiki and aren't yet confident about your editing skills use the Sandbox to make edits.
