Dear Players,

Thank you for your continued involvement in Patchwork Universe. The following information is intended as an update on the Beta Test currently in progress. Individual character and patch stat information is appended at the end of this mailing.

State of Play

Patchwork Universe currently has twenty-five registered players and thirty-seven patches. Our players have written 974 posts to the forums.

Recent updates and revisions to the rules include a new mechanic for progression of stalled threads, more detailed NPC information in the Players Guide and on the Beta Test forum and locking mechanics for frozen patches.

The Quilt Map

The Map has been reshuffled. An explanation of the current shuffle principles is posted on the Beta Test forum.

The Quilt Map now involves a JavaScript function. Information about patches is still represented in a panel but this now appears on mouseover and clicking on a patch takes you to the patch forum.

Periphery patches are now described in detail on the Quilt Map and will shortly appear as subthreads in the Periphery forum.

Clarification: Out of Character Notes

A quick clarification on out of character notes in posts.

Information that is useful to the other players but is not in character should be included in square brackets and start with ‘OOC’ or similar:

[OOC: this is a sample out of character note]

One example where we advise these be added is when moving between patches. Add an out of character note listing the destination patch on leaving, and the originating patch when entering a new patch. For yet more clarity include the relevant thread titles.

Special Mentions for Beta Testers

The GMs would like to thank…

Kat Takanaka for her ‘posting procedures’ ideas in the HMS Justice patch, which have been adopted as a quality standard for complex thread interactions.

Quotations from the Quilt

"It seems unlikely, that a person could spend so much time responding to a question and yet still fail in any meaningful sense to have answered it.” - Trubshawe

Thank you for playing in Patchwork Universe,

The GM Team

The following system rankings begin with your starting position and progress through the stages of the game. Points before your starting position will appear as a line of dashes. The first stat listed is your character stat, which remains constant wherever you go; the second is your patch stat, which is the one used in determining the Local GM and diminishes with distance from your own patch.

(Note, stats were appended for each player)
