Miss Mercury was the headmistress of the Juniper School, teaching unusually gifted children how to use their talents. Despite a number of usual visitors to her school she didn't become aware of the patchwork until it was explained to her by the scientist Dr Kirby after an unusual parents day attended by Jack Frost, Rose Briar and Lilac Warble. However her patch vanished during the second dark age and has not been seen since.
