Parrots
From PatchworkWiki
The parrots of the patchwork, although of a bewildering variety of types and breeds, all wear brass tags around their feet. Each tag is numbered and each parrot makes a different remark according to the number of its tag. This is rumoured to have something to do with the pirates and a treasure map. (See Magpie and Skull Island.)
Parrots appear to have the ability to cross mists and some have been utilised as carriers of messages. The innate aggression that they seem to show has no obvious motivation, unless it is because of the parrots' resentment of being used as letter carriers.
William Bushman of Dogsend Lane also owns a parrot named Tibbs, this is untagged.
