Patches and people
The universe is composed of a number of patches. Various reference works exist for the universe including the Travel Guide produced by Terminus Enterprises, and the Tourist map.
The patchwork's notable citizens are listed in the book entitled Dramatis Personae: A Who's Who of the Patchwork, of which the only extant copy is currently possessed by Vivi.

Flora and Fauna
The encyclopedia includes entries on the flora and fauna of the universe.
Language
Many languages are spoken in the patchwork but most inhabitants or chosen of patches share a lingua franca of English.
